Dealing with lengthy commutes

Great distances from home to work often lead to one stressful obligation - a long commute. As the distance increases, the hours of commuting from home to work become longer. For someone who needs money to pay the bills or to make both ends meet, he or she will have to bear with this routine.

A common problem that is faced by people undergoing long commutes every day is the deprivation of sleep or the irregular sleeping hours. You will be deprived of sleep as you will be spending the majority of your time at work, the remaining few hours for your family and a few more hours for the commute.

Dealing with far commuting distances is something that we cannot escape from unless you are willing to change jobs, buy your own fast car or plane. On the long commute, you will be left with the choice of saving your strength for next activity you are looking to have like spend time with family, work, fun and others. So how do you survive a long commute?

One thing that people commonly do in order to buy time when riding a bus home or to work is to read a journal or a book. Reading a book will further enhance your knowledge and will draw your attention away from the time. At the end of your reading, you'd be surprised you're already at the bus stop.

You can also be childish as you take that bus ride from your home to your office by playing games on your phone. Playing games or browsing pictures and videos on your gadget is not something that many people would do when idle but this surely is a fun thing and something worth doing during the long ride. If you want your games or apps to be more interesting, you can download top apps and games over the online market and compete with friends.

Want to make money on the time you are on the long commute? Try writing an article - you can do this either through a pen and paper or through a laptop. Since your body is not doing any much activities during traveling, the mind can become very keen. In this scenario, article or blog writing would be the best thing that you can do. Write or blog about your experience at work, how to make a long commute more fun and more profitable and others. Not only will this be a great way to take your thoughts off the time but also helps you make money.

Lastly, you can also socialize while you are taking that long bus ride. As you take that long commute, you can also talk to your fellow passengers. I know this would require skill as well as enough confidence however it is actually easier than it would sound. All you need is a bit of confidence to initiate a conversation. Of course, you will need to ensure that the topic is meaningful as well as interesting to draw the attention of your listener. Likewise, be sure to check first that the person you are looking to talk to is approachable.
