The best process to get a job as a mermaid.

There are many interesting creatures in the oceans. Some of them are real and some of them are stuff of lore.  Many a tale of Neptune, Davy Jones Locker and mermaids are told over a pint of ale.

A half fish, half human creature of the ocean is a mermaid.  The victims are lured below the water by her amazing beauty.  To philosophers she was a perfect mixture of the sea and earth. She represents what the Greeks understood as a mystery of the sea.  Ever wondered what befell the sailor after they fell overboard?

Of course, this is more Greek mythology than anything else is, but there are people who perform as mermaids. They may have tails, but they are still beautiful women.

How do you get a job as a mermaid?

Of course love of water is one big requirement.  The swimming action is completely different as you are using a tail.  First off you work as a model to learn about how to present yourself.  A lot of the time you won`t be swimming in the sea.  The quality of your performance will depend how you present yourself in a mystic manner.  Other important considerations are how a camera works and different shooting angles.

Get involved in the idea of the ocean. Talk to divers and other people who are always in the water.  Find out how they see the oceans. Find one or two that are underwater photographers and get some shots to form a portfolio.  In order to impress employers you will need a good portfolio.

Learn how to perform by doing the likes of kids parties.  By not being too critical of you the kids can allow you get the performance just right.

You can either make or create your own mermaid tail.

Hannah Frasier is a professional model turned mermaid.  A tail that matches your body, created by you, is better than a copy. You want it to feel natural.  In addition, certain shapes create more power than others do, and they glide through the water better.  You should be creative and make it your own, says Hannah.

If you follow these tips, you too could be in a fabulous picture seen swimming with a whale, or thrilling audiences at one of the famous water parks in the United States or elsewhere.
